"When you're ready," said the crow, "I'll lead you to your wake."
Does the above image and sentiment seem a bit scary to you? That's not a bad thing. Facing your fears is a natural and inevitable part of this particular journey.
In some shamanic traditions, it was part of the Deathwalker's job to ready the souls of the dying for their final walk to the Death Gateway. The Deathwalker (also known as the Psychopomp) accompanies the souls of the dying through some of the Otherworld to aid their safe passage into the afterlife. The Deathwalker also helps to release souls trapped in this world (ghosts), unable to cross over - usually due to a traumatic death; sometimes due to ties and cords that need cutting.
Death coaching is probably the modern world's closest version of Deathwalking, and is another facet of spiritual life coaching - a lot of my focus is on the spiritual and afterlife aspect though (spiritual death coaching) because of my work and experience of death and its archetypes in both shamanism and the angelic realm, so this may make me a little different from other death coaches.
Death is a rite of passage, and a right of passage, yet in the modern western world, living isolated, unsupported by a village, separate from nature, with our bodies full of chemical toxicity, most of us have forgotten how to die. Instead of healthily grieving and supporting - even celebrating - the death process, we fear death tremendously and do all we can to delay it. I say this not as a judgement, but as a fact. Fear of disease, pain, and death is completely natural, but the collective response we have to that fear (denying it or running from it) removes us yet again from the balance of nature and our place in the web of life.
Everyone wants to die well - to have a good death. Make no mistake, it's a warrior's journey. And we can prepare you for it through a clearing of the heart and strengthening of the spirit via an active connection with the angelic realm, your own spirit guide(s), crystal energies, and/or flower remedies - there are many tools to your benefit. Like spiritual life coaching, death coaching aims to support your frame of mind, your emotions, and your spirit throughout this process, step-by-step. Just as we are midwifed into this world, we can also be midwifed into the afterlife. There really is no "death" - it is a transformation from one state of being, to another.
My spiritual death coaching is combined with general End of Life pastoral care, angel channelling, and is person-centred for you meaning you lead the way with your coaching. It's something I offer on a case-by-case basis in the South Hampshire area of the UK. While emailed sessions by distance are also possible, I would want to be sure it would be enough for your needs and would assess this individually. Email me in the first instance, with details of how you'd like support and what you'd like to get out of the sessions, and we'll take it from there.
Additional Notes: My personal (and more down-to-earth) experiences of death include the passing away of my father when I was 16, my mother when I was 35, and both my parents-in-law (my partner's parents) very close either side of my own mother's death. It was a tumultuous few years to say the least.
If you were interested in talking to me about bringing my coaching services into hospital or hospice environments, I hold an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in The Principles of End of Life Care as well as public liability insurance. Think outside the box - it's worth it ☺
